Mission Statement CALPIRG is a student-directed, student-funded non-profit that works on environmental and social justice campaigns on a local, statewide, and national level. We are part of a network of PIRG chapters at all the major UCs and 100s of universities across the country. We teach the principles of leadership and organizing in order to make political and social change in our community.
Volunteer Duties

Volunteers and interns can participate in any of our 5 campaigns...
Hunger and Homelessness
Global Warming Solutions
Cheaper Textbooks
Higher Education
Oceans

Interns have an opportunity to coordinate a piece of a campaign - they work on anything from Media Outreach to Grassroots organizing. Volunteers can participate in our annual Hunger Clean-up, raising money for local to international causes, come help out at our beach clean-ups, or gather postcards convincing our legislators to the right thing. Some duties are service orientated (serving at soup kitchens, energy audits of buildings, teaching children) and others are political (calling media, collecting petitions, etc).
